What Does Soda Do to Our Teeth?

Be careful of heavy soda consumption.

We know that consuming large amounts of sugar is not good for our health, and, as the weather gets nicer, you may be tempted to grab a cold soda. Heavy consumption of soda can increase your chances of cavities, gum disease and other health issues such as diabetes.

The two things that make this drink so bad for our health are the sugar and acid found in soda. Sugar mixes with bacteria in our mouth and creates a harmful acid that can increase your chances of dental health issues. You also need to be careful of sugar-free soda. Although it may be sugar-free, the acid is still present and can wear away at your tooth enamel.

The best beverage to quench your thirst and also keep your mouth healthy is water. If you do have the occasional soda, make sure you drink water along with it to help neutralize the acids.
