How do I keep my child's teeth healthy?

There are a variety of ways to start your children off with a healthy smile.  Start oral care early, cleaning your child’s gums using gauze or a clean, damp cloth, and brushing them as soon as your child’s teeth appear.  Make sure to make an appointment at the dentist – your child’s first dental visit should take place at 6 to 12 months after birth.  Regular fluoride treatments from the dentist can strengthen enamel and arrest tooth decay for children as well.

Also, take advantage of dental sealants – these are a popular and effective way to protect your child’s teeth against cavities.

From Our Patients:

Dr. Lechner has been my dentist for as long as he's been in Delaware. He was the first dentist to recognize that my having had rheumatic fever meant that I should take an antibiotoc prior to a dentist visit. From that time forward, I have not come down with any sort of illness following a dentis appointment. Thank you for all these wonderful years of healthy teeth and general good health!
